beIN Sports Espanol Quick Picks

Anabel Ortiz vs. Brenda Ramos: On Saturday night on beIN Sports Espanol WBA World female minimumweight champion Anabel Ortiz (23-3, 4 KO) will take on Brenda Ramos (9-4, 4 KO).  Their bout is scheduled to go 10 rounds and Ortiz's title will be up for grabs.  Ortiz has been fighting professionally since 2007 and is currently riding a 13-fight win streak.  As for Ramos, she has been a pro since 2011 and she is just 2-3 in his last five fights and is fresh off a split decision loss in October.  Ortiz is an orthodox fighter whose nickname "Avispa" or "Wasp" fits her perfectly.  While Ortiz will jab from the outside she prefers to use her left hook and right hand to do damage and that right hand is probably her best weapon.  Ramos is also an orthodox fighter who likes to let her hands go and she is the heavier puncher between the two.  One thing Ramos does well is attack the body on the inside.  However, when Ramos goes on the attack she leaves both hands low and squares up to her opponent which should leave her open for plenty of left hooks and right hands from Ortiz.  Both women like to trade punches on the inside and being that rounds are only two minutes in women's boxing when you get to action fighters they can really fill the entire round with punches.  This fight should definitely have plenty of action and a high number of punches are sure to be traded but at the end of the fight it will be Ortiz getting her hand raised as the winner by unanimous decision.

Emmanuel Navarrete vs. Dennis Contreras: The co-feature on Saturday's beIN Sports Espanol card will feature the young, powerful Emmanuel Navarrete (17-1, 14 KO) as he takes on Dennis Contreras (20-6, 19 KO) who also happens to have very heavy hands.  Their fight is scheduled to go 10 rounds from the junior featherweight division where Navarrete continues to look to make a splash.  At just 22 years old Navarrette has been fighting professionally since 2012 and he hasn't lost a fight since 2012 and is currently riding a 12-fight win streak.  Contreras on the other hand turned pro in 2010 but the 24-year-old has hit a rough patch as of late, going 1-4 in his last five fights and all of those four losses came by the way of unanimous decision.  Navarrete is an orthodox fighter who likes to let his hands go.  Navarrete likes to use his jab as a measuring stick for his best punch, the straight right hand.  Along with those tools he also has a left hook but he does have a bad habit of leaving his hands low after throwing punches, although he does like to throw combinations so his offense is really his defense.  Meanwhile Contreras is also an orthodox fighter and he has plenty of pop on his punches.  On the inside he has shown a nice left hook but most of his damage comes from his powerful right hand.  Contreras definitely has the power to stop Navarrete if Navarrete isn't careful.  Yet judging from recent performances the edge has to be given to Navarrete who will win this fight with a close unanimous decision.
