Alvarado will look to make it 2 in a row
Mike Alvarado vs. Josh Torres: The third fight between Mike Alvarado (35-4, 24 KO) and Brandon Rios was supposed to be a electric rubber match that would possibly cement their trilogy as one of the best ever.  Instead Alvarado showed up out of shape, unmotivated, and fresh out of trouble with police and turned in the worst performance of his career.  After three rounds he had had enough and quit on his stool.  Now Alvarado will look to rebound and win his second fight in a row since that loss when he takes on Josh Torres (15-4-2, 7 KO) this Saturday on UniMas.  Alvarado is an orthodox boxer-puncher who can stick and move at times and also slug it out with the best of them.  He jab is a solid weapon but not used enough.  The left hook of Alvarado is a nice weapon as is his heavy right hand, especially when he is throwing an uppercut.  However, Alvarado also eats a lot of punches and he has been in numerous wars in his career and it seems like he is closer to retirement than another title shot.  Torres is also an orthodox fighter and at only 26-years-old he already has too many losses.  Although to Torres' credit he has never been knocked out while Alvarado has been knocked out three times in four career losses.  Torres likes to fight on the inside although he has no real power and he walks straight in most of the time without even throwing a jab.  Torres will let go with a left hook but that punch doesn't have much on it.  His overhand right is probably his best punch but without coming in behind a jab he should be easy pickings for Alvarado if Alvarado has anything left in the tank.  Even if Alvarado isn't at 100 percent he will still win this fight by the way of unanimous decision.
