beIN Sports Espanol Quick Picks

Miguel Berchelt vs. George Jupp: Fans who were looking forward to Miguel Berchelt (28-1, 25 KO) challenge Roman "Rocky" Martinez will have to wait.  Martinez pulled out of the fight after injuring his hand and now George Jupp (13-2, 4 KO) will take his place.  The fight is scheduled to go 12 rounds in the junior lightweight division and a vacant WBO interim belt will be on the line.  Berchelt is an orthodox fighter with a ton of power, especially for his division.  The young Mexican fighter has a decent jab but he hasn't perfected it yet and it could be a good weapon down the line if he works on it.  The punches that work wonderful for him already are his left hook and heavy right hand.  Berchelt is a good combination puncher and does a nice job of touching up the body but his finishing punch is usually his right hand.  Jupp is a much different fighter from Berchelt, most notable because of his lack of power.  Jupp does have an accurate jab and his left hook seems to always find its home but he doesn't have any real pop on those punches.  What Jupp does do well is move and land an awkward looking uppercut with his right hand.  It won't be easy for Jupp to keep Berchelt from constantly attacking though because he won't be able to get Berchelt's respect with any of his punches.  Jupp could frustrate Berchelt early and steal some rounds but once Berchelt gets going he should be able to handle Jupp fairly easily and win the fight by the way of seventh round stoppage.

Junior Granados vs. Aston Palicte: The co-feature for Saturday's card will pit Junior Granados (14-4-1, 8 KO) against Aston Palicte (20-1, 17 KO).  That fight is scheduled to go 10 rounds in the junior bantamweight division where Palicte is certainly one of the biggest punchers.  Granados needs a win badly because in his last seven fights he has gone 2-4-1 and he was knockout out twice in those four losses.  Not having a great chin certainly won't help Granados against the heavy hitting Palicte.  Granados is an orthodox fighter with a decent jab and a very nice uppercut he throws with his right hand.  A big problem for Granados has been defense and he is usually open for counter punches, especially when he lets go with his jab because he drops his hand before bringing it back up to his chin.  A good punch for Granados is his left hook which he throws from awkward angles at times but he doesn't carry much power.  Palicte is also an orthodox fighter and he has a serious advantage in height and power against Granados.  Palicte likes to work behind his jab and he has a very heavy straight right hand.  While Palcite will also throw a left hook that punch doesn't do as much damage as his right hand.  Palicte should be able to control this fight because he has a serious height and reach advantage and he is also the bigger puncher.  Granados doesn't  take punches very well and Palicte will be able to stop him in the fifth round.
