2015 Knockout of the Year

Winner
Gabriel Bracero KO's Danny O'Connor

Big Time Boxing's 2015 Knockout of the Year was an unexpected one.  That is because when a fighter enters a bout with 23 wins and only four knockouts, fireworks aren't expected, especially when that fighter lost his last fight.  But when Gabriel Bracero stepped in the ring for a rematch with Danny O'Connor fireworks are just what fans got.  It didn't even take a minute for the fight to be over.  O'Connor reached in with a left hand and got caught with a brutal overhand right that knocked him out cold.  It was a one punch knockout that fans, or O'Connor won't soon forget.

Runner-Up
Yenifel Vicente KO's Juan Dominguez

When Yenifel Vicente entered the ring against Juan Dominguez he was supposed to be a beatable veteran for the young, undefeated prospect.  Well no one told Vicente he was supposed to be the opponent.  In the center of the ring with Vicente circling to his left he stepped in and unloaded a monster overhand right that put Dominguez to sleep.  Dominguez was so out of it that on his way to the canvas he actually threw a left hook and right hand.  It was a nice upset and an absolutely beautiful knockout.

Honorable Mention
Saul "Canelo" Alvarez KO's James Kirkland

Fans who were expecting a slugfest between Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and James Kirkland got just that, albeit a very one-sided one.  Alvarez caught Kirkland with a right uppercut that dropped him and had him in bad shape.  Moments later, with Kirkland on the ropes, Alvarez let go a right hand right as Kirkland wound up for a big left hook.  Kirkland never saw that right hand coming and immediately hit the canvas.  The knockout was so brutal that there was no need for a count, the fight was over.

In the Running
Tevin Farmer KO's Dualis Prescott
Tevin Farmer often gets overlooked because at only 25-years-old he is already the owner of four losses, two by knockout.  But many of those losses came early in his career and in 2015 he showed he is a legit threat.  So when Farmer stepped in the ring with Dualis Prescott, a power puncher who had been knocked out himself, fans expected a solid show.  In the eight round of the fight Farmer started to look to set up heavy left hands and with Prescott on the ropes Farmer unloaded a left that caught him.  It was such a big punch that the referee nearly waved the fight off before Prescott had even hit the canvas.

Sergey Lipinets KO's Cosme Rivera
As it stands now Sergey Lipinets has a record of 8-0 with six knockout.  But when he faced Cosme Rivera he entered the ring with a record of 5-0 with four knockouts so while clearly he had power he did not have much professional experience, that wouldn't matter though.  In the center of the ring with his hands low in a confident posture Lipinets unleashed one of the biggest overhand rights in recent memory and caught Rivera flush, sending him to the canvas.  While Rivera did beat the count he was clearly out of it and the referee ended the action there.

Jorge Paez Jr. KO's Ronald Montes
Jorge Paez Jr.'s knockout of Ronald Montes was not the biggest knockout of 2015 but it was one of the prettiest.  With less than a minute to go in the fourth round Paez caught Montes with a left hook upstairs followed by a left uppercut.  Paez wasn't done there though.  He finished the combination up with a left hook to the body that dropped Montes after a brief delay, as body shots are known to do, and the fight was over.  While it wasn't the biggest punch it showed what perfectly placed combinations can do, win fights.

Krzysztof Glowacki KO's Marco Huck
Entering this fight Marco Huck was the favorite and defending his title.  In the sixth round Huck floored Glowacki and no one would have blamed referee David Fields if he had ended things there, but he let Glowacki continues and fans are glad he did.  In the eleventh round of a close fight Huck committed one of boxing's greatest sins, pulling straight back on defense with your hands down.  Glowacki caught Huck with overhand left followed but what was really a jab that sent Huck to the canvas.  While the champion made it to his feet he was badly hurt after tasting the canvas for the first time in his career.  With Huck in trouble in the corner Glowacki pounced on him and caught him with a few big left hooks that sent Huck flailing into, and almost through, the ropes ending the fight right there.  This fight was already mentioned in the 2015 Round of the Year and it could also find itself in the running for 2015 Fight of the Year.

Peter Quillin KO's Michael Zerafa
Peter Quillin was such a heavy favorite over Michael Zerafa it almost isn't fair to put this fight on any list.  However, it had to be mentioned because instead of playing it safe and using a high, tight guard all night Zerafa decided to trade with Quillin and paid the price for his display of heart.  With Zerafa already hurt and falling back into the ropes Quillin caught him with a straight right hand that snapped Zerafa's head back and sent him crumbling to the canvas in a scary moment for the underdog.
