ShoBox: The New Generation Quick Pick

"Bravo" will try to remain perfect
Rob Brant vs. Louis Rose; It may not be the busiest week of boxing but that doesn't mean there aren't fights that should keeps fans happy.  The action starts on Friday in the middleweight division when the unbeaten Rob Brant (17-0, 11 KO) takes on Louis Rose (13-2-1, 5 KO) on Showtime.  Brant is the one to pay attention to in this fight and he plies his trade out of the orthodox stance.  One thing the 25-year-old Brant does well is vary the speed on his punches but he also has a flaw in that he doesn't  keep his elbows tucked tight to the body which leaves him exposed for body punches.  Brant has a nice quick jab and will often turn that punch over into a left hook but he will sometimes slap with that punch instead of really stepping into it.  Most of Brant's power comes in the form of his straight right hand which is definitely his best weapon.  Although Brant has a perfect record not much stock should be put into that considering he has a faced a litany of sub par fighters.  The same can be said for Rose who resume isn't littered with any top opponents.  Rose is an orthodox fighter with a crisp jab and he likes to work his right hand from different angles.  However, Rose usually eats a lot of clean punches upstairs so he needs to tighten up his defense.  Another problem Rose has it that he tends to tire quickly and that leads him to throw wide looping punches.  This fight should be close throughout as neither fighter has every really been tested.  However, the stamina and sharper punches of Brant down the stretch will give him the advantage and he will win the fight via unanimous decision.
