Joseph Diaz vs. Ruben Tamayo: On Friday night fast rising prospect Joseph Diaz (17-0, 10 KO) returns to the ring against Ruben Tamayo (25-6-4, 17 KO).  The fight is scheduled to go 10 rounds in the featherweight division and it will be another good opportunity for Diaz to showcase his skills.  Diaz has already fought three times in 2015 and on Friday he will look to go 4-0 this year.  Diaz is a southpaw who has a good jab and a solid straight left hand.  Another weapon Diaz has in his arsenal is a nice right hook and his style has proven to be fan friendly thus far.  While Diaz hasn't taken on any top fighters yet he is only 22 years old and is being brought along intelligently.  As for Tamayo he has not looked good as of late.  In his past 10 fights Tamayo has gone 4-4-2 and was knocked out three times.  Recently Tamayo has been used to give top prospect some good rounds and some of those prospect include Oscar Valdez and Jesus Cuellar, both of whom beat Tamayo.  Tamayo is also a southpaw and he has some decent pop on his punches and even dropped Valdez with a straight left hand in his last fight.  While Tamayo doesn't flash his jab much he does love to throw his power punches.  His right hook is a dangerous weapon but like his left hand he often throws it very wild.  When Tamayo has success it usually comes early so he will need to jump on Diaz from the start if he wants to win.  Diaz is a rising prospect who looks like he has the makings of a future star and he will take another step in that direction on Friday when he beats Tamayo by the way of unanimous decision.

Frankie Gomez vs. Jorge Silva: Finally, for the first time this year Frankie Gomez (18-0, 13 KO) will enter the ring.  Gomez is a talented prospect with heavy hands but outside the ring issues have kept him from a meaningful fight since his 2014 win over Vernon Paris.  On Friday Gomez will take on Jorge Silva (21-9-2, 17 KO) in a 10-round bout in the welterweight division.  Gomez has flashed some serious talent but if he doesn't start taking his career seriously very soon he may not have one that lasts very long.  Gomez is an orthodox fighter with a seek and destroy type fighting style.  One thing Gomez does well is go to the body and his left hook is a serious weapon but his right hand may be just as dangerous.  With the right hand Gomez likes to throw straight punches and uppercuts and those uppercuts can surprise opponents.  While Gomez has never lost a fight there was a time when Silva lost six fights in a row and he was knocked out in three of those fights.  Although he did win his last fight that came against an 0-7 fighter and his record in his last 10 fights is a terrible 2-7-1.  Still, Silva does have fights against better fighters than Gomez has faced like Alfredo Angulo, Joshua Clottey, Yoshihiro Kamegai.  Silva is an orthodox fighter and offensively he is limited.  While he does have decent power his hands aren't very fast and his jab isn't great.  He also tends to throw wide punches which doesn't do his slow hands any favors.  This fight is really all about how Gomez looks.  He has been out of the ring since July of last year so Silva should test him early since he may be rusty.  Once Gomez gets into a groove though this fight should be over and it will be Gomez who gets the win via 7th round stoppage.
