beIN Sports Espanol Quick Pick

Ramon Alvarez vs. Ben Tackie: Saturday's fight on beIN Sports Espanol was supposed to look much different.  Ramon Alvarez (21-4-2, 13 KO) was always supposed to headline but he was originally slated to take on Jorge Paez Jr. but after Paez suffered an injury Alvarez will not be in against Ben Tackie (30-12-1, 18 KO).  The fight is scheduled to go 10 rounds in the junior middleweight division and every indication points to it being a very one-sided fight.  The reason for that is Tackie who is 3-7 in his last 10 fights and 9-10-1 in his last 20.  Meanwhile, Alvarez hasn't lost since 2012 and since that last loss has gone 7-0 with six knockouts.  What all this means is, expect Alvarez to look good.  The one thing Tackie can hang his hat on however is the fact that he has never been knocked out as a pro.  Alvarez is an orthodox fighter who, as some might expect, has a similar style to his younger brother Saul, better known by his nickname "Canelo."  Alvarez's jab is solid and he has a strong straight right hand that he can also throw over the top.  The left hook of Alvarez tends to be a little wild and he also has a bad habit of retreating straight back on defense with keeping his gloves in a good defensive position.  One reason Tackie has so many loses is because he fought such a high level of opposition.  During his career he took on the likes of Kostya Tszyu, Sharmba Mitchell, and Ricky Hatton and none of them were able to stop him, although they all did beat him.  Tackie is an orthodox fighter who likes to do work on the inside.  He has a decent jab and straight right hand along with a good left hook.  The problem for Tackie is that he is now north of 40 and he hasn't won a meaningful fight in over a decade.  The Tackie from 15 years ago would have probably given Alvarez a good fight but the 2015 Tackie won't.  Alvarez won't be the first to stop Tackie but he will beat him by the way of unanimous decision.
