Showtime PPV Quick Pick (Pre-Fight)

Both Smith and Martirosyan need wins
Vanes Martirosyan vs. Ishe Smith: Before Saturday's Showtime PPV card starts there will be some live action during a pre-fight show.  That action has veterans Vanes Martirosyan (35-2-1, 21 KO) and Ishe Smith (27-7, 12 KO) going head to head for 10 rounds in the junior middleweight division.  Both fighters are in need of wins with Martirosyan losing his most recent fight to Jermell Charlo and Smith going 2-2 in his last four bouts.  Martirosyan is a boxer-puncher who fights out of the orthodox stance.  He has a jab that he can land from the outside but he does get a little wild when he throws his crooked punches.  Martirosyan has a good left hook along with a nice straight right hand and he fights well on the inside because he goes to the body with such success.  On reason Smith has gotten title shots and appeared on high level cards is because he is promoted by Floyd Mayweather.  How else could you explain a 12-loss fighter who only beats lower level opposition continually getting big opportunities?  Smith is an orthodox fighter with a solid jab and he also has a right hand that he digs to the body pretty well.  The problem is that Smith doesn't have very fast hands, or a ton of power, and he isn't great defensively.  Simply, Smith is a classic B-level fighter.  In this fight Martirosyan should have the easier time.  He is a better in fighter than Smith is and he will also find more success from distance so whatever Smith chooses to do Martirosyan will probably do better.  One thing Smith can hang his hat on is the fact that he has never been knocked out.  That won't change on Saturday but Martirosyan will hand Smith another loss by the way of unanimous decision.
