Telemundo Quick Picks

Daniel Rosario vs. Aaron Garcia: Even when a fight card is announced that doesn't feature any big names boxing heads still get excited.  The reason for that is in boxing anything can happen and you never know when an all out war might occur.  This Friday on Telemundo there will be no big names in action but hopefully the action itself makes up for that.  The main event of that card will be a 10-round, junior middleweight bout between Daniel Rosario (10-1, 9 KO) and Aaron Garcia (14-3-1, 10 KO).  Both fighters have plenty of pop so fans could be in for a good back and forth brawl.  Rosario is an orthodox fighter who likes to be aggressive and trade leather on the inside.  His jab and straight right hand are decent punches but it is his crooked punches that he relies on to win fights.  Rosario throws his uppercuts well and he has a heavy left hook.  Along with that left hook Rosario has a right hand that can also do plenty of damage.  Defense is still a work in progress for Rosario, at times he moves his head well and shows quick reflexes but at other times he just lays on the inside and doesn't do much moving at all.  As for Garcia not much is known because there is no tape of him online outside of one highlight reel.  That doesn't usually bode well for a fighter and typically means he has been fighting at a very low level.  What we do know is that Garcia is an orthodox fighter with good power.  He likes to counter punch and when he does he usually puts together a three or four punch combination and flashes a nice left hook along with a good straight right hand.  This fight should be an exciting one and it should also be a close one but Garcia has been knocked out by a 1-3 fighter in the past and on Friday night it will happen again when Rosario knocks him out in the 4th round.

Yunier Dorticos vs. Galen Brown: The co-feature on Friday's Telemundo card will also feature two fighters most fans have probably never heard of.  This fight could very well end up being a quick one between the young undefeated Cuban Yunier Dorticos (18-0, 17 KO) and the aging American Galen Brown (43-30-1, 25 KO).  The fight is scheduled to go 10 rounds in the cruiserweight division but it may not last that long.  For the majority of his career Brown has campaigned as a heavyweight and he has fought so many of the second tier heavyweights that there isn't enough room to mention them all.  For Brown's most recent fight he weighed in at 236 pounds and lost to Chazz Witherspoon and he also has losses to the likes of Tor Hamer, Hasim Rahman, Mariusz Wach, and Andrey Fedosov.  Meanwhile, Dorticos hasn't faced anyone even worth mentioning except his most recent opponent, and the only one to make it to the final bell, Edison Miranda.  Dorticos is an orthodox fighter with a good jab and straight left hand.  He throws his combinations well and it is his right hand that is his most dangerous weapon.  Also, Dorticos like most Cubans is good on defense, he isn't as Erislandy Lara or Guillermo Rigondeaux, but he can slip punches fairly well.  When it comes to Brown things don't look good for him against Dorticos.  Brown is a southpaw with a jab that takes forever to reach its intended target.  He isn't a busy fighter by any means and usually just uses his jab, although he does look to counter at times.  The bad thing for Brown is that he has been knocked out 19 times in his 30 losses and some of those knockouts have been brutal.  This fight shouldn't be much more of a showcase fight for the prospect Dorticos who will win easily by the way of 4th round stoppage.
