Donnie Nietes vs. Francisco Rodriguez: It is a packed Saturday night of boxing this week.  Lately it has seemed that every promoter has put on their fights on the same night, not caring about what the other promoter may be doing the same night.  Luckily for fans hoping to catch title fight between Donnie Nietes (35-1-4, 21 KO) and Francisco Rodriguez (17-2-1, 11 KO) it doesn't start until the other fight cards have already ended.  The late night fight is scheduled to go 12 rounds and Nietes' WBO junior flyweight title will be on the line.  Most fans, expect serious boxing heads, are probably unfamiliar with both of these prizefighters.  Nietes because most of his fights have come in his native Philippines and Rodriguez because he is still a prospect with a long way to go at only 21 years old.  However Rodriguez has been thrown into the fire at a young age having faced Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez back in 2013 so he does have experience against the best.  Nietes may not be well known but he is a damn good fighter.  In fact the last time Nietes lost a fight came way back in 2004.  Nietes is an orthodox fighter and a fun one to watch because he rarely takes a backwards step.  Nietes likes to stand and trade on the inside and he goes to the body well with left hooks and right hands.  The jab of Nietes is decent and his straight right hand is a much better punch.  Because of his offense first style Nietes often forgets to protect himself on defense.  He will sometimes drop his hands and throw wildly but he is relentless which gives his opponents problems.  Rodriguez is also an orthodox fighter and he too likes to apply the pressure.  He has a solid jab and quick hands that allow him to turn his left hook over nicely.  Rodriguez does have a hard time cutting off the ring though, so if Nietes decides to do some dancing, which is doubtful, Rodriguez may have a hard time catching him.  Another punch that is a plus for Rodriguez is his overhand right, and he could use that weapon if things take place in a phone booth.  This fight could come down to the youthful legs of Rodriguez against the battle tested Nietes but it has been 11 years since Nietes has lost a fight and he won't lose on Saturday night.  Nietes will get the victory against Rodriguez by the way of unanimous decision.
