beIN Sports Espanol Quick Picks

Fernando Montiel vs. Rogelio Jun Doliguez: This Saturday on beIN Sports Espanol will be a battle of opposites.  The main event of that card will be a 10 round bout in the junior lightweight division between veteran Fernando Montiel (53-4-2, 39 KO) and youngster Rogelio Jun Doliguez (19-2-2, 14 KO).  Not only is there a 13 year age difference between these two fighters but they also fight out of different stance with Montiel being an orthodox fighter and Doliguez being a southpaw.  Montiel will have a big advantage as far as experience goes because he has fought the best his division has to offer.  The veteran is a boxer-puncher who shows good patience in the ring and likes to counter punch.  He has solid had speed and a pretty nice jab but his power punches are what opponents look for.  Montiel has a nice short left hook and a heavy right hand, and he loves to bang that left hook to the body.  Uppercuts are another good weapon for Montiel, especially on the inside.  Defensively Montiel isn't elite but he does have a good chin which may be tested against the heavy hands of Doliguez.  Doliguez has a weak jab but follows it up with a strong, yet wild left hand.  Doliguez seems to be  in constant motion and his head is always dipping and ducking as he tries to get in close to land his right hook.  The problem is that Doliguez tends to fall in with his punches and doesn't always stay very disciplined.  This fight will go to the final bell but it will be all Montiel as he gets the win via unanimous decision.

Juan Carlos Sanchez vs. Luis Melendez: The co-feature of Saturday's card will be a 10 round bout in the junior featherweight division.  The bout will feature two fighters who have faced off against some of the best with Juan Carlos Sanchez (19-3-1, 9 KO) who has lost to Juan Francisco Estrada taking on Luis Melendez (41-9-1, 30 KO) who has lost to Joseph Agbeko.  Sanchez is a southpaw who moves well in the ring but his chin is a problem considering he has been knocked out in all three of his career losses.  What Sanchez does have is quick hands and a good jab along with a solid right hook.  The best punch that Sanchez has is his straight left hand, although he doesn't have much pop on any of his punches.  Melendez is also a southpaw and he has much more power than Sanchez does.  The heavier handed Melendez is also more aggressive than Sanchez and he likes to use his jab to set up a stiff straight left hand.  While Melendez does have solid power, those power punches come in the form of a very wide right hook and left hand.  The difference in this fight could be confidence.  Sanchez is coming off of a knockout loss while Melendez has won seven fights in a row including five by the way of knockout.  This may be a close fight throughout but eventually Melendez will land some power and hurt Sanchez before finishing him off with an 8th round stoppage.
