Weekend Wrap-Up

- Before his fight this week tough veteran Rocky Juarez said that if he lost he would retire.  Well Juarez lost by a wide unanimous decision and was dropped numerous times in the final round.  He didn't look like a shot fighter and still seems to have something left in the tank but he also doesn't look like a fighter who can win at the elite level.

- The fighter who beat Rocky Juarez was Robinson Castellanos who often gets overlooked.  That is probably because his record includes 10 losses but he is an aggressive fighter who is fun to watch.  While Castellanos may not be an elite fighter he is one who could give any fighter a tough night and should be able to land a higher profile fight in the crowded featherweight division.

- Coming into this week's edition of Friday Night Fights on ESPN2 most people looked as Karl Dargan as a dangerous prospect he could do some big things in the lightweight division.  After the fight that all seems up in the air now.  Dargan got completely outworked by Tony Luis and was handed his first career loss.  Dargan has made his name as a boxer who stays on the outside and can land power punches when he needs to.  Against Luis Dargan stood toe to toe and to punch after punch with no answer.

- Tony Luis showed himself to be a threat in the lightweight division with his dominant performance over Karl Dargan.  With lightweight kingpin Terence Crawford moving up to 140 lbs. the division is wide open.  Luis has a fan friendly style that is best described as relentless.  He doesn't carry much power but his work rate is very impressive and he should get a big fight in the division very soon.

- Many fans probably overlooked the UniMas card on Saturday night because no top fighters or prospects were in action.  Those fans missed a very fun main event between Francisco Rodriguez Jr. and Jomar Fajardo.  This fight was a rematch and while their first bout ended in a draw this fight was all Rodriguez Jr..  It certainly wasn't a Fight of the Year candidate but it was fun nonetheless.
