Mijares looks to put on another exciting show
Cristian Mijares vs. Lester Medrano: The card that will cap off a busy week of boxing will be on Fox Deportes.  That card will be headlined by veteran warrior Cristian Mijares (50-8-2, 25 KO) as he takes on Lester Medrano (14-2-1, 9 KO) in a 10 round featherweight bout.  Mijares has been fighting since 1997 and that long career may be beginning to take its toll.  Mijares is 3-2 in his last five bouts but his two losses came against Leo Santa Cruz and Victor Terrazas while his three wins came against unknown fighters.  Mijares is a southpaw with quick hands and a very nice jab.  He also likes to throw a lot of uppercuts from awkward angles and he throws the punch with both hands.  Mijares also has a solid left hand and he always does a good job of cutting off the ring.  His one flaw is his defense which is not great and may be why now he seems to lose against top fighters.  However Medrano is far from being a top fighter and this should be a look good fight for Mijares.  Medrano is an orthodox fighter who usually keeps his hands low which gets him touched up a lot.  His jab may be his best punch because everything else he throws is very wild.  He does have a strong straight right hand but it comes in long and somewhat slow so Mijares shouldn't have to worry about it too much.  This should be a fight where Mijares can look good because Medrano simply isn't at the same level which will be clear when Mijares gets the win via 9th round stoppage.

Gamboa looks to rebound after his 1st career loss
Yuriorkis Gamboa vs. Joel Montes De Oca: The co-feature tonight should be all about Yuriorkis Gamboa (23-1, 16 KO).  That is because Gamboa's opponent Joel Montes De Oca (18-3, 10 KO) has mostly be in the ring against fighters with losing records.  In fact five of De Oca's opponents entered the ring against him without ever previously winning a fight.  So however long this fights lasts it should all be a showcase for Gamboa.  Gamboa is an orthodox fighter with incredibly fast hands.  With those fast hands Gamboa is able to throw and land a ton of combinations.  Surprisingly though Gamboa doesn't have much of a jab to speak of but that hasn't seemed to matter much.  He has a nice left hook and a very good straight right hand.  The problem for Gamboa besides sometimes seeming to lack interest in fights at times is his defense.  While Gamboa is a good defensive fighter he will sometimes stand and trade and that is when he gets caught clean.  The Cuban fighter will be looking to rebound after his first career loss which came at the hands of Terence Crawford.  Getting a win shouldn't be too hard for Gamboa.  His opponent De Oca is an orthodox fighter who likes to counter.  His best punch is a short left hook but he doesn't have much of a right hand.  While his jab is decent it isn't a punch Gamboa needs to worry about too much.  The big problem for De Oca, especially in this fight, is his bad defense that sees him get caught clean very often.  This fight should be all Gamboa as he blows through De Oca by the way of 4th round knockout.
