beIN Sports Quick Picks

Diaz has been perfect as a pro
Felix Diaz vs. Adrian Granados: Usually the week leading up to a major PPV fight is filled with action that is not the case this week however.  As even casual fans should know by now Manny Pacquiao will be fighting this Saturday on HBO PPV but the only other fight card of the week will be this Friday on beIN Sports.  That card will be headlined by Felix Diaz (15-0, 8 KO) who won a gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the junior welterweight division for the Dominican Republic.  Now as a professional Diaz will be doing his biding in the welterweight division and will be challenged by Adrian Granados (13-2-2, 9 KO) on Friday in a 10 round bout.  The 30 year old Diaz is a southpaw with good hand speed.  He is an aggressive fighter with good head movement and a nice jab.  Along with that Diaz also has a strong right hook and a very short, quick left hand that does damage.  While Diaz has plenty of talent he is already 30 years old and has yet to fight any truly talented fighters.  If he wants to make a name for himself in the welterweight division he will need to start fighting at a higher level and that can start Friday if he beats Granados.  Granados won't make it easy for Diaz.  He likes to fight on the inside and puts his punches together relatively well.  He throws a nice jab to the body out of the orthodox stance and he has a very accurate straight right hand.  Granados also has a solid left hook but its his right hand that is his most dangerous.  Granados should be able to give Diaz some problems because he likes to put combinations together and his punches are very accurate.  However Diaz is better defensively and his head movement should allow him to slip many of the combinations Granados throws and get inside to do damage of his own which is why he will win this fight by the way of unanimous decision.

Marrero looks to continue his winning ways
Claudio Marrero vs. Ira Terry: Friday night will be all about the Dominicans because the co-feature of the beIN Sports card will feature Claudio Marrero (16-1, 12 KO).  Marrero will be taking on the American Ira Terry (26-12, 16 KO) in a 10 round featherweight bout.  Marrero is a southpaw with a quick jab and very nice short right hook.  Marrero also throws a left hand but not very often and when he does it tends to be wide.  While he moves decently in the ring Marrero does have a tendency to get caught clean upstairs.  The only loss Marrero has on his professional record came in the toughest fight of his career against Jesus Cuellar and losing to a top opponent is something Terry is very familiar with.  Terry has a ton of losses on his resume and most of them have come in his step up fights against pugilists such as Jorge Linares, Francisco Vargas, Jason Litzau.  In fact Terry has had an eight loss losing streak during his career and is 2-7 with 1 no contest in his past ten bouts.  Terry is an orthodox boxer with good hand speed.  His punches come in awkwardly at times but he has a very quick left hook that he likes to leap in with.  Terry also comes in with a nice jab and a solid right hand but his defense isn't great and his chin doesn't hold up to punishment which is evident by the fact that he has been knocked out eight times in his twelve losses.  Terry made find some early success with his quick hands but eventually Marrero will be too much for him and Marrero will win the fight via 6th round knockout.
