Diaz has been perfect since returning to the sport
Juan Diaz vs. Carlos Cardenas: This Saturday will be a very good one for fans of the sweet science.  That night there will be many big name fighters entering the ring so fans should have plenty to chose from.  One of the fights to look out for is a bout between fan favorite Juan Diaz (39-4, 19 KO) and Carlos Cardenas (21-8-1, 14 KO) who are scheduled to go 10 rounds in the lightweight division.  Before his early retirement Diaz was a fan favorite because of his relentless style.  Since returning to the ring Diaz has shown that same style and has looked pretty good albeit against sub par competition.  Diaz fought three times in 2013 going 3-0 with 2 knockouts and has gone 1-0 so far in 2014 as he looks to get back into the title picture.  The way Diaz fights isn't very subtle and it isn't very patient.  He comes forward in an orthodox stance with constant pressure and doesn't mind eating a few punches on his way in.  Diaz has a decent jab paired with a strong left hook and he likes to throw his right hand from everywhere but throws it especially well as an uppercut.  While his defense isn't very good he has only been knocked out once and that came against Juan Manuel Marquez.  Also his offense is so constant it almost asks as his defense also.  This fight will be a contrast of styles because Cardenas likes to fight from the outside and isn't the brawler that Diaz is.  Cardenas is also an orthodox fighter and has a very good jab and straight right hand.  With that he also has a quick left hook but he will throw it wildly.  While Cardenas is slick on defense and can win fights from the outside he also has a bad chin which is why he will need to really work his jab to keep Diaz out of the pocket.  Even though Cardenas is slick on the outside he also tends to move straight back on defense and sometimes forgets to bring his hands up which leaves his weak chin exposed as fans saw when he was stopped by the light hitting Mickey Bey.  This fight will come down to the pressure and high punch output of Diaz against the jab and movement of Cardenas.  While Cardenas may be able to put some early rounds in the bank eventually Diaz will wear him down and win this fight by the way of 9th round stoppage.
