BREAKING NEWS

It has been a tumultuous time in the career of Juan Manuel Marquez (55-7-1, 40 KO).  Following a loss in October to Timothy Bradley the rumors about who Marquez would fight next or if he would retire started flowing.  First he shot down the idea of fighting Manny Pacquiao for a fifth time then said he wanted a rematch with Bradley.  When that didn't happen, rumors of a possible fight against Ruslan Provodnikov sparked up.  Marquez had no interest in that fight and was left without a dance partner.  Now Marquez finally has his next opponent in Mike Alvarado (34-2, 23 KO) on May 17th.  Alvarado is also coming off in October when he was stopped by Provodnikov.  This fight is scheduled to go 12 rounds at a maximum catchweight of 143 pounds and will act as a welterweight title eliminator with the winner facing off against the winner of Pacquiao-Bradley II.
