Fox Deportes Quick Picks

De Leon looks to rebound after a loss to Mares
Daniel Ponce De Leon vs. Joksan Hernandez: The main event of this Saturday's Fox Deportes card should be explosive.  That is because both Daniel Ponce De Leon (44-5, 35 KO) and Joksan Hernandez (23-5-1, 15 KO) are wild sluggers who always bring the action and things should be no different in this 10 round junior lightweight fight.  The bigger name is Ponce De Leon who is coming off a hard fought 9th round TKO loss to Abner Mares in May and is looking to rebound.  Ponce De Leon has fought the best his division has to offer including Mares, Adrien Broner, Juan Manuel Lopez, and Yuriorkis Gamboa, unfortuntely for him he has lost nearly every time he took a step up.  Still Ponce De Leon is dangerous and hungry which should make his style even more lethal.  Ponce De Leon is not a fan of using a jab, instead he throws wide hooks and throws every punch looking for the knockout. He loves to brawl on the inside as does Hernandez, which is why this fight should be so fun for fans.  Hernandez is also a wild puncher who throws looping hooks and loves a good brawl.  However Hernandez hasn't looked good as of late, in his last four fights he is 1-2-1 with the fourth fight being only a four rounder.  Ponce De Leon should outclass Hernandez in a good brawl and win this fight by the way of 5th round stoppage.

Robert Manzanarez vs. Alejandro Barrera: The other notable fight on the card will be a 10 round showcase fight in the lightweight division for the ultra talented 18 year old Robert Manzanarez (24-1, 20 KO).  Manzanarez is a long, lanky fighter who looks like he belongs in a pool, not a boxing ring.  For as thin as Manzanarez's frame is, it is unbelievable how much power he has.  His record would be perfect if he hadn't run into Alejandro Barrera (22-15, 15 KO) who stopped him in the 6th round.  Barrera is a stepping stone fighter who promoters pit young up and comers against to pad their records and build there confidence.  Since 2010 Barrera is 3-13 and he was stopped in 11 of those fights so clearly Manzanarez's promotional team think he can win the rematch and look good doing it.  The 34 year old Barrera will look to make this fight a brawl and frustrate the much younger Manzanarez but the younger man should be too quick for him.  Also being that this is a rematch Manzanarez knows what he is in for this time around and should be able to game plan accordingly.  Barrera has been stopped in his last 3 fights and this one should be no different.  Manzanarez will win this fight via 4th round knockout.
