Friday Night Fights Quick Picks

Donovan George vs. David Lopez: This weeks installment of Friday Night Fights should be a heavy hitting one.  The main event will showcase Donovan 'Da Bomb' George against David 'The Destroyer' Lopez, and with nicknames like that, you know these guys can really punch.  Neither fighter will be looking for the decision victory in this 10 round middleweight fight.  George who had been fighting at super middleweight will be dropping down a weight class in hopes of becoming a true contender.  His record is 24-3-1 with a monsterous 21 knockouts, but he has also been knocked out one time.  George is the younger, more athletic fighter which should help in a fight that is destined to be a slugfest.  Lopez is a veteran at 35 years old, and has been in many tough fights.  His record is 41-13 with 23 knockouts, and of those 13 losses he has been knocked out 9 times, a very high number.  But for a fighter with 13 losses on his record, he is very good.  His last loss came against Austin Trout in 2011, and his last loss before that came six years before that in 2005.  He has fought better talent than George has, and has much more experience.  Lopez also fights southpaw which could be a hassle for George.  Still being 35 years old in a slugfest doesn't seem like a good thing.  I think fans will see a fight full of haymakers to the head and vicious body shots.  I expect Donovan George to come out victorious via a 7th round knockout.

Kermit Cintron vs. Adrian Granados: The first fight of the night is a very intriguing one.  It pits veteran Kermit Cintron against young prospect Adrian Granados.  Cintron is coming off a 16 month layoff after his lopsided loss to Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez and has lost three of his last four fights.  But don't be fooled, those losses came against some of the best in the sport; Alvaraez, Carlos Molina, and Paul Williams, where Cintron fell out of the ring and was unable to continue.  Cintron is a skilled fighter and a top level talent.  His record is 33-5-1 with a strong 28 knockouts.  In his 5 losses 3 have come from a knockout.    For big time boxing fans Granados is an unknown commodity, his record is 11-2-1 with 7 knockouts.  He is only 23 years old so his career is on the rise, but it is yet to be seen just how good he can be.  As of right now he seems to be more of a fringe prospect then a top prospect.  For Granados this will also be his first time in a 10 round fight, so Cintron will try to take him to the deep rounds.  This should be a solid fight, and a fight in which Kermit Cintron gets a unanimous decision victory.
