UniMas Quick Pick

Ramirez landing a straight right hand
Jose Ramirez vs. Jake Giuriceo: One of Cinco De Mayo's other fights this Friday will air on UniMas.  The main event of that card will feature the undefeated prospect Jose Ramirez (19-0, 14 KO) taking on Jake Giuriceo (20-5-1, 5 KO).  The fight is scheduled to go 10 rounds from the junior welterweight division where Ramirez is looking to continue climbing the ladder.  At just 24 years old Ramirez is one of the more highly touted prospects in boxing while Giuriceo at this point in his career is a gatekeeper.  Giuriceo is coming off three wins in a row but that comes right after he lost five of six.  Ramirez is an orthodox fighter with a pretty good jab he likes to follow with a heavy right hand.  His best punch may be his left hook though, which he loves to bang to the body.  Defensively Ramirez could tighten up a bit, especially on the inside but so far it hasn't hurt him.  Giuriceo is eight years older than Ramirez, is shorter, has less reach, and has almost no power whatsoever.  He likes to fight behind a busy jab and he usually follows it with his straight right hand.  Giuriceo doesn't throw the left hook much and he also tends to absorb a lot of body blows which is bad news against a fighter like Ramirez who loves to dig to the body.  This one is going to be all Ramirez who will stop Giuriceo in the sixth round, probably with a body shot.
