Salido landing an uppercut on Francisco Vargas
Orlando Salido vs. Aristides Perez: On Saturday night Orlando Salido (43-13-4, 30 KO) will make his 2017 debut.  His last fight which was against Francisco Vargas turned out to be Big Time Boxing's 2016 Fight of the Year and on Saturday he will take on Aristides Perez (30-9-2, 16 KO).  Their fight is scheduled to go 10 rounds from the junior lightweight division and Salido is the heavy favorite in this fight.  Salido is known for two things, going to war and bending the rules.  Salido isn't opposed to fouling opponents by throwing his punches low and he loves to exchange heavy leather on the inside, seemingly with no regard for his own well being.  Salido is a 36-year-old orthodox fighter who can take, and dish out a tremendous amount of punishment.  Perez is also 36 and he too fights out of the orthodox stance.  Unlike Salido though he has faced many top opponents, Perez has only been in with two top opponents in Jhonny Gonzalez and Humberto Soto and those fights came in 2009 and 2010.  As for fighting styles don't expect to see Salido thrown many jabs.  He is usually a barrage of left hooks and right hands and does his best work on the inside.  Perez does like to jab and follow it with a wild overhand right but he has awkward footwork and often leaves his chin exposed.  Both fighters have suffered knockout losses in their careers but on Saturday Perez will suffer another one as Salido stops him in the ninth round.
