Abraham Lopez vs. Sergio Lopez:
On Friday night Golden Boy Promotions will bring another L.A. Fight Club card to Estrella TV. The main event of that card will be a bout between aging prospect Abraham Lopez (21-0-1, 15 KO) and Sergio Lopez (21-11-1, 14 KO) that is scheduled to go 10 rounds from the featherweight division. Looking at Sergio Lopez's record you might think that Abraham would have an easy time with him but the lone blemish on Abraham's career, a draw, came against a 20-15-1 opponent. Still in their current form Abraham has been much better than Sergio who is 2-3 in his last five fights and he was stopped in two of those losses. Abraham fights out of the orthodox stance and he likes to work behind a busy jab. While he isn't a very busy puncher when he isn't pumping his jab, Abraham actually does have a solid left hook and right hand and he would be better served if he used both more often. Defensively Abraham isn't great though and he will usually eat plenty of clean punches. Sergio also works out of the orthodox stance and he loves to work on the inside where he can rough things up. Sergio is a busier puncher than Abraham and he loves to throw a barrage of right hands and left hooks to varying degrees of success. This fight will not be a pretty one. Neither fighter is a master of the sweet science and both have their flaws. However, Abraham has never lost a fight and as long as he can keep Sergio at the end of his jab he won't lose come Friday night. It won't do much to advance his career but Abraham will win this fight by the way of unanimous decision.
