CBS Sports Quick Picks

Oscar Cantu vs. Aston Palicte: While most of the boxing world will be tuned in to HBO to watch Bernard Hopkins make his final walk to the ring there will also be a fight card on CBS Sports.  That card will be headlined by a fight between the undefeated Oscar Cantu (14-0, 1 KO) and Aston Palicte (21-2, 18 KO) and the fight is scheduled to go 10 rounds from the junior bantamweight division.  The difference between the two fighters is stark, Cantu couldn't punch his way out of a paper bag while Palcite packs a huge punch is a small frame.  Cantu is an orthodox fighter and surprisingly for a fighter with absolutely no power to speak of he doesn't use his jab much.  Instead Cantu likes to bounce around on his toes and he actually moves pretty well.  His best punch is his straight right hand and while he also throws a left hook that is a punch that doesn't do much.  Palicte is also an orthodox fighter but he has plenty of power, unlike Cantu.  Palicte likes to use his jab as a measuring stick for his straight right hand and left hook, both bigger punches than anything Cantu can offer up.  If there is a cared to miss this weekend this one is it.  Neither fighter in the main event looks good enough to go on to compete for a world title and both have major flaws to their game.  However, Palicte is a bit busier and hits harder and because of that he will come away with the majority decision win.
