UniMas Quick Pick

Vences seems ready for his first 10-round bout
Casey Ramos vs. Andy Vences: This Friday, the day before Manny Pacquiao makes his return to the ring, will be a busy one for boxing.  There will be three fight cards including one on UniMas.  The main event of that UniMas card will feature two undefeated fighters in Casey Ramos (23-0, 6 KO) and Andy Vences (16-0, 10 KO).  The two pugilists are scheduled to go 10 rounds in the junior lightweight division.  Ramos is an orthodox fighter who throws punches with bad intentions despite not being a very heavy hitter.  He likes to use his jab as a measuring stick for his left hook and big right hand and both can do damage over the course of a fight.  However, Ramos doesn't vary his attack much and usually comes straight ahead and retreats in a similar straight line, neither of which are good ideas.  Vences is also an orthodox fighter and he likes to use his jab to score and he will throw it upstairs and down.  At times Vences appears reluctant to punch though, something that is never a problem for the aggressive Ramos.  This will be Vences first 10-round fight so if the action goes past eight things could get interesting.  Along with his jab though Vences also has a nice straight right hand.  While Vences may have superior skills to Ramos it is Ramos who is more aggressive and who throws more punches and that punch output will help Ramos come away with the majority decision win.
