Avila looks to remain undefeated
Manuel Avila vs. Jose Ramirez: This Friday hot prospect Manuel Avila (21-0, 8 KO) will be back in action on Estrella TV.  Avila will be challenged by Jose Ramirez (28-6, 16 KO) in a fight scheduled to go 10 rounds from the featherweight division.  Ramirez will be another experienced yet limited opponent for Avila as he moves his way up the rankings.  Avila is an orthodox fighter who is only 24 years old and he seems to get better with each fight.  His fast hands allow him to get off a number of punches in rapid succession and his jab is a good one.  With that jab Avila also has a very good straight right hand and all of his punches are very accurate.  Avila also has a nice left hook and he fights like a pugilist older than his 24 years but the one thing he lacks is power.  That lack of any real power is the one thing that could hurt Avila's career but as long as he keeps boxing circles around his opponents it probably won't matter much.  As for Ramirez he has faced top prospect before.  In recent years Ramirez has faced off against Vasyl Lomachenko, Abner Mares, and Oscar Valdez and he was knocked out by all three of them.  While Avila probably doesn't have the power to stop Ramirez he does have the skills to outbox him.  Ramirez is an orthodox fighter who is best described as "wild."  Ramirez really only uses his jab as a measuring stick and he does his best work from the pocket.  The problem with Ramirez is that he throws wide, looping punches.  His best punch may be his overhand right which can do damage if it lands clean but Ramirez doesn't often land clean, not with his right hand and not with his left hook.  Simply put, Avila is too sharp for Ramirez and he will showcase his skills on his way to a wide unanimous decision win.
