Weekend Wrap-Up

  • Last week the undefeated prospect Luis Nery took on the vastly more experienced Richie Mepranum on beIN Sports Espanol.  Those who were hoping the veteran Mepranum could give Nery some good work had to be disappointed at the outcome of this fight.  Nery started fast and wasted no time in dispatching Mepranum with a knockout in the second round.  Mepranum went down from a series of left hands and although he was able to beat the count he was dropped again by another left hand moments later, this one ending the fight.

  • The only other fight covered by Big Time Boxing last week was the bout between Mauricio Pintor and Fernando Marin.  The 18-year-old Marin entered this fight with an unbeaten record, although he did have three draws on his resume.  Why Marin suffered his first loss is pretty simple, he throws wide punches and leaves himself open to be countered.  Pintor did just that, landing heavy right hands in the sixth round that stopped Marin standing.
