Weekend Wrap-Up

  • Keep your heads up boxing fans, October is nearly over.  Until then we will have to continue to settle for low level fights without any big names in action.  Last week the biggest name in the ring was Jose Felix Jr. and he took on Alan Herrera in a fight that was scheduled to go 10 rounds.  Instead the fight didn't even last half of that as Felix showed himself to be the far superior boxer by stopping Herrera standing in the third round.  Felix has a good record and a lot of wins over lower tier opponents and hopefully now he will start to step up the level of his opposition.

  • Also in action last week was Ricardo Rodriguez.  Rodriguez took on David Quijano and he entered the fight as the favorite.  During the fight he showed why he was favored by easily handling Quijano.  If Rodriguez had more power he may have stopped Quijano but instead the light hitting Rodriguez simply out boxed Quijano on his way to a wide unanimous decision win.
