Telemundo Quick Pick

Mauricio Pintor vs. Fernando Marin: Tonight on Telemundo two Mexican fighters will go head-to-head in what could end up being a sloppy fight.  That fight, which is scheduled to go 10 rounds from the welterweight division, will feature Mauricio Pintor (19-2-1, 12 KO) and Fernando Marin (13-0-3, 9 KO).  Pinto will be the one with the advantage in experience and power but it isn't like Pintor is vastly more experienced than Marin who is just 18 years old.  Marin suffered some early draws in his career but has gone 8-0 with four knockouts since his last one.  As for Pintor, he has been hit or miss in recent bouts going 2-2-1 with one knockout in his last five fights.  Pintor is an orthodox fighter with solid pop on his punches.  He likes to use his jab to measure the distance to land his power punches but he isn't a very busy puncher.  Pintor has a good right uppercut but his bets punch may be his left hook, especially when he throws it downstairs.  Marin is also an orthodox fighter and he is longer and leaner than Pintor.  While he lacks any top end power he does have a good jab that he uses often.  Marin runs into trouble with his power punches though, he usually throws them wide which leaves his opponent opportunities to counter him.  The young Marin does put in some solid work with his right hand but his left hook could be a lot crisper.  There is a good chance that this won't be the most visually pleasing bout.  Pintor isn't a very busy puncher and Marin throws wide, looping shots so neither one is highly skilled.  However, Pintor should get the better of the action on the inside and he will hand Marin his first career loss by the way of unanimous decision.
