Telemundo Quick Pick

Ricardo Rodriguez vs. David Quijano: October will continue its streak of low level fights this Friday on Telemundo.  That Telemundo card will be headlined by a rematch between Ricardo Rodriguez (14-3, 4 KO) and David Quijano (16-6-1, 9 KO).  The fight is scheduled to go 10 rounds in the junior bantamweight division and it comes hot off the heels of their first fight in June which Rodriguez won by the way of unanimous decision.  Rodriguez is an orthodox fighter whose best punch is definitely his left hook.  Although Rodriguez doesn't have much power he throws his left hook with band intentions and he puts in good work with it.  Rodriguez also has a pretty good jab and he will follow it with a straight right hand, but when he throws that right hand he has a tendency to square up to his opponent which is never a good thing.  Rodriguez's hands are also fast and he always does a nice job of attacking the body, something he did very successfully against Quijano in their first fight.  Quijano is also an orthodox fighter and he has hit the skids as of late, going 1-4 in his last five fights.  While Quijano doesn't have much of a jab he does have a nice left hook and he puts in some good work with his right hand.  The left hook from Quijano isn't as sharp as Rodriguez's but he can score with the right hand whether he throws it straight or overhand.  Rodriguez is typically a busier fighter than Quijano and he also has the faster hands.  Those attributes are what helped Rodriguez win his first fight with Quijano and they will help him win again with another unanimous decision.
