Magdaleno looks to rebound from his last loss
Diego Magdaleno vs. Art Hovhannisyan: This October won't be a very good one for boxing.  While there are plenty of fights cards there won't be very many elite, or even near elite, fighters in action.  Instead boxing fans will have to settle for second-tier fights involving many fighters who need a win.  That will be the case this Friday on Estrella TV when Diego Magdaleno (28-2, 12 KO) takes on Art Hovhannisyan (17-2-3, 9 KO).  That fight is scheduled to go 10 rounds in the junior welterweight division and both fighters are in need of a win.  Magdaleno only has two career losses but one of those losses happened in his last fight.  That fight was against Terry Flanagan, who, despite having little power was able to stop Magdaleno in just the second round.  Meanwhile Hovhannisyan hasn't fared very well as of late, going 2-2-1 in his last five fights and both he and Magdaleno have a bad habit of losing their step up fights.  Magdaleno is a southpaw without much power but he does have a nice jab.  Along with that jab Magdanelo also has a very good left hand but he isn't a very busy puncher.  Often Magdaleno will pick his spots from the outside and when he gets inside he will let his hands go but sometimes forgets about return fire while doing so.  Hovannisyan is an orthodox fighter who has a very bad habit of backing straight up on defense.  Despite not being very heavy handed Hovannisyan does like to throw his power punches and he has a very good left hook along with a solid right hand.  However, while he is an accurate puncher he isn't very busy.  Since neither Magdaleno or Hovannisyan are very busy fighters this fight could come down to who lets their hands go more often.  This fight probably won't be a very exciting one but it will be a close one that Magdaleno wins by the way of unanimous decision.
