PBC on ESPN Quick Picks

Miguel Flores vs. Ryan Kielczweski: Once again the PBC will air a card on ESPN that could have easily been a Friday Night Fights card.  This week's card, which will air on Friday, will be headlined by a bout between Miguel Flores (20-0, 9 KO) and Ryan Kielczweski (25-1, 7 KO).  That fight is scheduled to go 10 rounds from the featherweight division where both young fighters are looking to make a name for themselves.  Flores is a young orthodox fighter with very little power but plenty of skills.  The young fighter has shown a good long jab along with a solid left hook.  Along with those tools Flores will also throw a left hook and while he throws all of his punches nicely, none of them land with that much authority.  What makes Flores successful is the fact that he can fight equally well from the outside or in the pocket.  While Flores hasn't yet faced any top tier opponents in recent bouts he has taken on quality veterans, fights that will help him improve moving forward.  When it comes to opponents Kielczweski has not fought at the same level as Flores.  Kielczweski is also an orthodox fighter who lacks top end power.  He likes to work behind his jab and he will also throw a left hook and right hand although neither punch is that great.  Kielczweski doesn't move around the ring all that well and often times he will keep his hands lows and rely on his quick reflexes to avoid punches.  This should be a pretty even fight early but as the rounds wind down the class of Flores will tell and he will win this fight by the way of unanimous decision.

Jamal James vs. Yordenis Ugas: The co-feature for Friday's PBC on ESPN card will pit undefeated prospect Jamal James (20-0, 9 KO) up against Yordenis Ugas (15-3, 7 KO).  That fight is scheduled to go 10 rounds in the welterweight division.  After being brought along slowly Jame has stepped up his level of competition recently and is fresh off a win over Wale Omotoso.  James is a very tall 6-feet 2-inches for the welterweight division and he is also very lanky.  He fights out of the orthodox stance and has shown quick hands and a good jab.  However, at times James will fall forward and give up his height advantage, something he might want to adjust going forward.  James will also throw a straight right hand and left hook but for the most part he relies on his jab and movement.  Ugas is also a tall orthodox fighter although he isn't as tall as James.  Ugas fights out of a conventional style and likes to work behind a stiff jab.  He also has a short left hook that can surprise his opponents, although his right hand isn't all that great.  This could be a pretty good fight because Ugas has fought some solid fighters like Amir Imam so he could give James a tough test.  However, if James uses his height properly he should be able to win this fight with a unanimous decision.
