CBS Sports Quick Pick

Rob Brant vs. Chris Fitzpatrick: One of the other cards gracing television this Friday will be on CBS Sports.  That card will be headlined by a fight between the unbeaten Rob Brant (20-0, 13 KO) and Chris Fitzpatrick (15-4, 6 KO).  That fight is scheduled to go 10 rounds in the middleweight division where Brant is still climbing the ladder.  Fitzpatrick is really just an opponent in this fight especially considering he is 1-4 in his last five fights including three losses in a row, two of which ended in a knockout.  Fitzpatrick has faced better opposition than Brant though and has been in the ring with Patrick Majewski and Daniel Jacobs, getting stopped by both.  Fitpatrick's lone win in his last five bouts came against a 6-13-1 fighter who had been knocked out eight times previously.  Brant has been very impressive in his last two fights, going 2-0 with two early knockouts after a less than stellar majority decision win over Louis Rose.  Brant is an orthodox fighter and he likes to work behind a good jab.  That jab can score points or be used as a measuring stick for a very impressive straight right hand.  While Brant also has a solid left hook it is the right hand that can do the most damage.  Fitzpatrick is a wild orthodox fighter whose style makes it easy to see why he gets knocked out so often.  Fitzpatrick likes to work on the inside but the problem is that he squares up too much and swings wildly.  His left hook is decent as is his overhand right but he doesn't have much power and he is very wild in the ring.  As long as Brant keeps his cool and doesn't let Fitzpatrick rough him up on the inside he should have no problem winning this fight with a fourth round stoppage.
