PBC on Spike Quick Pick

Rances Barthelemy vs. Mickey Bey: This week's action will kickoff with a PBC card on Spike.  Headlining that card will be a bout between Rances Barthelemy (24-0, 13 KO) and Mickey Bey (22-1-1, 10 KO).  That fight is scheduled to go 12 rounds in the lightweight division and Barthelemy will be putting his IBF title on the line.  What is interesting is that for a fight between two pugilists with only one loss between them there isn't much buzz surrounding this title fight.  Perhaps that is due to the fact that in recent victories neither man has overly impressed.  Barthelemy is a tall lightweight who fights out of the orthodox stance.  He has a stiff jab he will control the distance with and along with that jab he has a nice left hook that is arguably his best punch.  Barthelemy will often double that left hook up and he also has a fine, albeit not great, right hand.  Defensively Barthelemy is solid but he is nowhere near the level of his countrymen Erislandy Lara or Guillermo Rigondeaux.  Also, Barthelemy has been much more active than Bey as of late.  Barthelemy fought three times in 2014 and another three times in 2015 while Bey fought just twice in 2014 and only once in 2015.  Bey is also an orthodox fighter with a good jab.  That jab is definitely his best punch and he will often double and even triple it up.  Along with that jab Bey has a solid straight right hand and on the inside he will let loose with a left hook but he doesn't carry much pop on any of his punches.  Also on the inside Bey will throw accurate uppercuts but he is at his best when he is sticking and moving from the outside.  One problem for Bey has been his chin.  He was stopped late against John Molina Jr. in a fight he was winning and then was dropped two fights later by a left hook, although he got up to win.  Both fighters tend to get inactive at times so whoever has the higher punch output may win this fight.  One thing to pay attention to is the fact that Bey has been badly hurt a few times by left hooks and that is Barthelemy's best punch.  This should be a close fight but Barthelemy has a bit more pop on his punches and he will win this fight by the way of unanimous decision.
