Oscar Negrete vs. Jose Bustos:
This Friday on Estrella TV Oscar Negrete (13-0, 5 KO) will put his perfect record on the line against Jose Bustos (11-6-3, 7 KO). That fight, which will be another Golden Boy Promotion's L.A. Fight Club card, is scheduled to go 10 rounds in the bantamweight division. Negrete is an orthodox fighter without much power but he doesn't fight like that. Instead of fighting behind his jab and moving what Negrete likes to do is bang with his left hook. It's not that Negrete doesn't jab, he does, but he uses it as more of a measuring stick for his left hook and crooked right hand. With those punches Negrete also has an accurate straight right hand but he also has a bad habit of throwing uppercuts from too far away. Bustos is also an orthodox fighter and when he is comfortable he is usually throwing a lot of jabs and straight right hands. However, when Bustos lets go with power punches, especially with his right hand, they come in wide. Also, Bustos has not done well against even average competition. Although he has won three fights in a row, all by knockout those three opponents had a combined record of 4-14. Previously Bustos had lost four fights in a row to average competition and had been knocked out twice. Negrete probably won't have a difficult time keeping his perfect record intact against Bustos and he will move to 14-0 when he wins this fight by the way of unanimous decision.
