CBS Sports Quick Pick

Jesus Gutierrez vs. Demond Brock: CBS Sports has a habit of airing cards headlined by fighters very few fight fans have ever heard of.  That will be the case once again this Friday when they air a card headlined by Jesus Gutierrez (14-0-1, 4 KO) and Demond Brock (11-3-1, 4 KO).  That fight is scheduled to go 10 rounds in the lightweight division but a win for either fighter on a network not many people tune into will probably not be a big boost to either one's career.  It also has to be pointed out that neither fighter has ever been scheduled to go 10 rounds before.  The most either fighter has gone in the past is 8 rounds and the fact that Brock is 35-years-old and has never been scheduled to fight 10 rounds really speaks to the level of his career and opposition.  Gutierrez is an orthodox fighter who loves to work his jab.  Along with that jab he has a nice straight right hand but far too often uses a sweeping right hand that doesn't do much.  Gutierrez likes to work his jab to get inside and when he does he lets go with a lot of left hooks and right hands to varying degrees of success.  Brock is also an orthodox fighter who likes to work behind his jab.  Along with that jab he has shown a good left hook, especially to the body and a solid right hand.  Unfortunately for both fighters if fans are going to miss any of this week's action it will probably be this card.  Neither fighter is a high level prospect and the fight although competitive, probably won't be all that great.  Despite all of that it will be Gutierrez who gets the win by the way of unanimous decision.
