Magdaleno hopes to keep his perfect record intact
Jessie Magdaleno vs. Rey Perez: Undefeated prospect Jessie Magdaleno (22-0, 16 KO) returns to action this Saturday in what will be his first fight of 2016.  Magdaleno will be headlining a UniMas card against Rey Perez (20-7, 5 KO) in a 10-round bout in the junior featherweight division.  While Magdaleno is still facing sub par competition he is only 24-years-old and still very much on the rise.  Magdaleno is a southpaw with a good jab and he will often bring that punch downstairs.  The young fighter also has a good straight left hand and a quick right hook that can do damage.  Magdaleno has quick hands and his left hand also does damage, especially to the body.  Fans are still waiting for him to step up and face better opponents but as it stands now he looks better every time he enters the ring.  Perez is also an orthodox fighter and only 25-years-old but is not in the same class as Magdaleno and has gone 5-5 in his last 10 fights.  Perez has faced better opponents than Magdaleno, most notably Chris Avalos, but outside of a few notable names his resume isn't all that impressive either.  Perez will often keep his lead hand low and his jab doesn't have much on it.  His best punch is probably his right hand but he also has a quick left hook.  The problem for Perez is that he often fights backing up so his punches don't land with the power they otherwise might.  This fight will be all Magdaleno from start to finish and the only real question is how long Perez will last.  Magdaleno should have no problem controlling the early rounds and eventually will get Perez in trouble and stop him in the seventh round.
