ShoBox: The New Generation Quick Pick

Adam Lopez vs. Mario Munos: A pair of unbeaten 25-year-old prospects will headline Friday night's ShoBox: The New Generation card on Showtime.  Adam Lopez (14-0, 7 KO) will take on Mario Munos (16-0-1, 10 KO) in a 10-round bout in the junior featherweight division, one of the better divisions in boxing.  Lopez is no stranger to ShoBox and has scored an impressive knockout on the telecast in the past.  He will be looking to do more of the same come Friday night.  Lopez is an orthodox fighter who despite not have big knockout numbers can crack.  Lopez has a nice left hook and a tough overhand right and he will unleash both of them with bad intentions from the pocket.  Along with that overhand right Lopez also has an accurate straight right hand he likes to throw from the outside but he is still green and hasn't developed a consistent jab yet.  Also, at times Lopez can get over aggressive and when that happens his punches tend to widen and he leaves himself open for return fire upstairs.  Munos is also an orthodox fighter and unlike Lopez, he actually uses his jab often.  However, Munos has a bad habit of letting his right hand drift away from his chin when he throws his left.  Munos does have a short left hook and solid straight right hand but his hands aren't as quick as Lopez's.  This fight will be about distance.  Munos will be better served firing jabs from the outside while looking to follow up with straight right hands.  Lopez is the better fighter from the pocket and if he can get in close consistently he could do some damage to Munos.  Because of his hand speed advantage and ability to fighter better from the inside Lopez will win this fight by the way of unanimous decision.
