UniMas Quick Pick

Felix Jr. will try to continue his win streak
Jose Felix Jr. vs. Ricky Sismundo: After losing the first fight of his career in early 2014 Jose Felix Jr. (32-1-1, 25 KO) has won five fights in a row three of which came by the way of knockout.  On Saturday night Felix will take on Ricky Sismundo (30-8-2, 13 KO) on UniMas in a 10-round fight in the junior welterweight division.  Sismundo hails from the Philippines and has never fought in the U.S. before where Felix has already become comfortable.  Felix fights out of the orthodox stance and he has plenty of pop on his punches.  The 23-yeard-old has a solid jab and he does a nice job of sticking it to the body.  Along with that jab Felix has a stiff straight right hand which is probably his most powerful punch.  Felix doesn't use his left hook much but he will employ a check left hook to catch opponents coming in.  While Felix hasn't faced many notable opponents there are a few on Sismundo's resume most notably Terdsak Kokietgym and Billy Dib.  Sismundo is an orthodox fighter who at times will switch to southpaw to throw an awkward looking jab.  Sismundo has an awkward style overall and while he has a solid jab and a nice left hook he often leaves himself open to counter punches because he fights with his hands so low.  The way Sismundo fights is almost like he is trying to copy Manny Pacquiao but isn't a southpaw.  He is kind of like the guy who goes to pick-up basketball games trying to be Allen Iverson but he just doesn't look great doing it.  Also, in Sismundo's eight career losses four have come by the way of knockout so Felix could be looking to end things early.  This won't be the most exciting fight as Felix will use his jab to keep Sismundo at a safe distance until the late rounds when Felix starts to open up more and stops Sismundo in the eighth round.
