Estrella TV Quick Pick

Julian Ramirez vs. Christopher Martin: One of boxing's high touted young prospects, Julian Ramirez (15-0, 8 KO), will be in action this Friday on Estrella TV.  The 22-year-old Ramirez will be taking on the more experienced Christopher Martin (28-6-3, 9 KO) in a 10-round bout in the featherweight division.  While Ramirez will be trying to keep his perfect record intact Martin will just be trying to get back on track.  Martin is currently on a three fight losing streak and has gone 1-4 in his last five fights.  However, Martin does have the edge when it comes to experience and while Ramirez has never faced a top fighter Martin has taken on the very talented Gary Russel Jr. and made it to the final bell.  Ramirez is a southpaw who moves well in the ring and has a nice idea of what he wants to do.  The California native keeps his guard tight and he works behind a nice jab and often follows that jab up with a quick straight left hand.  With his right hand Ramirez doesn't throw many hooks but he does have a good uppercut he likes to launch, although he needs to be careful not to throw that punch from too far away.  Martin, like Ramirez, doesn't have much power and in fact the more experienced fighter carries even less pop on his punches than his younger foe does.  Martin is an orthodox fighter who has a pretty good jab and a nice left hook.  Martin will also throw a short check left hook but he also has a bad habit of leaving his left hand very low and he doesn't move as gracefully as Ramirez does in the squared circle.  Ramirez is a highly thought of prospect for a reason, he is already a good boxer at a very young age.  At this point in his young career he isn't going to be fed to the lions, he is just being tested against more experienced opponents.  Martin will be the opponent come Friday night and Ramirez will have no problem handling him for the unanimous decision win.
