PBC on Fox Sports 1 Quick Pick

Omar Douglas vs. Frank De Alba: The last fight card of 2015 will be a PBC card on Fox Sports 1.  That card is set to air on Tuesday night with prospect Omar Douglas (15-0, 11 KO) taking on Frank De Alba (17-1-2, 6 KO) in the main event.  That fight is scheduled to go 10 rounds in the junior lightweight division and it will mark the third time Douglas has been scheduled for 10 while De Alba has never been scheduled to go passed eight.  Douglas is a 24-year-old orthodox boxer and everything he throws is stiff.  The jab of Douglas has dropped opponents and it can also help set up his strong left hook that he loves to bang to the body.  While Douglas doesn't make much use of his right hand he will throw and land uppercuts with it at close range.  Douglas is still a prospect and he hasn't faced a high level of opposition but aside from occasionally throwing punches from too far away he doesn't appear to have many flaws.  What makes him such a good looking prospect is the fact that he can jab you to death from the outside or get in close and punish you with the left hook.  Meanwhile, De Alba is a southpaw fighter who is 4-years older than Douglas but he has actually faced worse competition than his young counterpart.  While De Alba does have some blemishes on his resume, like his debut bout which ended in a loss to an 0-4 fighter and draws against fighters with records of 2-2 and 2-7 that 2-2 fighter turned out to be Tevin Farmer who overcome a slow start to his career to really impress as of late.  De Alba doesn't have much pop on his punches so he likes to fight on the outside where he can land his jab and straight left hand.  De Alba also has a fairly decent right hook but his lack of power will hurt him against Douglas.  If Douglas is viewed as a legit prospect his team wouldn't throw him in with a guy who is the favorite and De Alba is certainly the underdog in this fight.  This year has seen some crazy upsets but the year won't end with one as Douglas will win the fight via unanimous decision.
