Showtime Extreme Quick Pick

There is a lot of buzz surrounding Imam
Amir Imam vs. Adrian Granados: Before the fights on Showtime this Saturday there will be live boxing action on Showtime Extreme.  The headliner of that Showtime Extreme card will be Amir Imam (18-0, 15 KO).  Imam has been garnering a lot of buzz lately because of his boxing skills and power and while he still hasn't faced any elite fighters many people are already giving him a chance against anyone.  Imam will be taking on Adrian Granados (16-4-2, 11 KO) in a junior welterweight bout scheduled to go 10 rounds.  The reason so many people think so highly of Imam is because it seems like he can do it all.  Imam who fights out of the orthodox stance has very fast hands that allow him to flash a strong jab and a dangerous straight right hand from the outside.  However, at close range Imam also does a nice job of landing overhand rights and uppercuts and his power is for real.  Granados is also an orthodox fighter although he will sometimes switch to the southpaw stance and he has faced better fighters than Imam has.  Granados has taken on the likes of Felix Diaz, Frankie Gomez, and Kermit Cintron, although those fights don't usually go very well for him.  The best punch Granados has is probably his straight right hand and he also puts in some good work making things rough on the inside.  This fight is really all about Imam though and the only question seems to be whether or not he scores the knockout.  Granados is a tough kid and even though he has been dropped numerous times in his career he has never been stopped.  That will change on Saturday night when Imam scores the 6th round stoppage.
