UniMas Quick Pick

Brian Viloria vs. Omar Soto II: Saturday night on UniMas will be a rematch of a 2010 fight between Brian Viloria (35-4, 21 KO) and Omar Soto (23-11-2, 15 KO).  This fight is scheduled to go 10 rounds in the junior bantamweight division.  This fight is big for Viloria who is hoping to get a title shot and possible rematch with Juan Francisco Estrada who he lost to in 2014 via split decision.  Soto would obviously love to spoil any title plans that Viloria has so expect him to come out hungry.  Viloria is an orthodox fighter with quick hands and a nice jab.  With that jab for Viloria also comes a very good straight right hand.  Viloria also has a nice left hook and fairly good power for such a small fighter.  Throughout his career Viloria has been an action fighter and hopefully Saturday is no different.  Soto is also an orthodox fighter who likes to work his jab.  His straight right hand isn't as sharp as Viloria's but he does have a solid left hook, although it can get wild.  Again, for such a small fighter Soto shows good power so if he and Viloria decide to really mix it up it could be a fun fight.  The problem for Soto has always been defense.  In his 11 loses he has been knocked out seven times and against Viloria that could spell danger.  For his part Viloria is hoping that this fight won't be much more than a tune-up for a title shot.  In his past two fights Viloria has scored two knockouts, meanwhile in three of his past four fights Soto has been knocked out.  Saturday will be more of the same as Viloria will score the 5th round knockout.
