UniMas Quick Pick

Felix looks to win over some new fans
Jose Felix Jr. vs. Yakubu Amidu: On a busy Saturday night of boxing the card on UniMas may get overlooked.  However, the main event of that card is a pretty good one and it features the young, power punching Jose Felix Jr. (29-1-1, 24 KO) taking on the veteran Yakubu Amidu (21-6-2, 19 KO).  The bout will be in the lightweight division and is scheduled to go 10 rounds.  At this point in his career Amidu seems to be at the end of his rope.  In his past six fights he has gone 1-4-1 and was stopped in the 6th round of his last fight.  Meanwhile the only loss for Felix came last year against Bryan Vasquez in a close fight.  Felix is an orthodox fighter who has a very good jab that he likes to work to the head and belly of his opponents.  His defense isn't all-world but it is definitely solid.  His best punch may be his overhand right but he also has a pretty nice left hook.  As for Amidu, he is a notoriously slow starter.  He also fights out of the orthodox stance and has a stiff jab and good power.  Amidu's best punch is probably his left hook but he gets in trouble at times because he isn't a very busy fighter.  If Amidu's recent record is any indication of how this fight will go than Felix should have an easy time.  However, this will be one of the better opponents Felix has faced and while it won't be an easy fight it will be a fight that sees him get the unanimous decision victory.
