Fox Sports 1 Quick Pick

Mendez hopes to add Lopez to his resume
Paul Mendez vs. David Alonso Lopez: Friday's card on Fox Sports 1 features two fighters in very different places in their careers.  Paul Mendez (17-2-2,8 KO) is a young fighter looking to make a name for himself while his opponent David Alonso Lopez (41-15-1, 23 KO) is a 20-year veteran of the sport.  The two are scheduled to go 10 rounds in the super middleweight division where many top fighters are currently fighting in or around.  While Mendez has no real names on his resume, Lopez has 20 years worth.  Lopez hasn't usually faired well against top fighters and has recent losses to Austin Trout and Jose Uzcategui.  Mendez is an orthodox fighter with a good jab he likes to counter with.  Along with that jab that Mendez will double up he also has a good straight right hand and he likes to fight from the outside where he can make use of his long arms.  Mendez doesn't fight as well at close range but he will land a solid uppercut with his right hand from that distance.  Head clashes could play a role in this fight since Mendez is an orthodox fighter and Lopez is a southpaw.  There isn't any tape of Lopez online but he is a true veteran and has a typical aggressive Mexican style.  The knock on Lopez has always been his horrible chin and out of his 15 losses 10 have come by the way of knockout.  Also, Lopez has looked bad as of late going 1-3-1 in his past five bouts.  Mendez seems to be getting Lopez at the perfect time and he should be able to win this fight by the way of 7th round stoppage.
