CBS Sports Quick Pick

Richard Commey vs. Bahodir Mamadjonov: It will be a busy night of boxing on Friday night and part of that hustle and bustle will be a card on CBS Sports.  That card will feature a power puncher out of Ghana by the name of Richard Commey (21-0, 19 KO).  Commey will be taking on Bahodir Mamadjonov (17-1, 11 KO) in a lightweight bout scheduled to go 10 rounds.  One thing is clear, Commey is a power puncher but this will be his first fight in the U.S. and many fighters have come out of Ghana before will impressive power punching records, only to be exposed after coming to the U.S. for the first time.  Fighters who come out of Ghana are very tough, they wouldn't have made it out otherwise, but often they haven't faced a high level of competition and aren't the most skilled.  Commey is an orthodox fighter and flashes a good jab that he likes to double up.  Along with that jab Commey has a heavy right hand and does a nice job of banging it to the body.  One thing Commey rarely does is throw a left hook, but he does have the ability to switch to southpaw which can frustrate and confuse opponents.  As for Mamadjonov he is a southpaw with a very compact frame who shows a good jab and straight left had combination.  Mamadjonov also has a decent right hook but he has a bad habit of dropping both hands when he attacks on offense which may get him in some trouble against the heavy handed Commey.  This should be a fairly even fight considering neither fighter has ever faced any elite level talent.  Between Commey and Mamadjonov, it is Mamadjonov who has faced the biggest name in Darleys Perez which accounts for his only loss.  Come Friday night Mamadjonov will have another loss on his record as the long, quicker Commey wins the fight by the way of unanimous decision.
