beIN Sports Espanol Quick Pick

Javier Mendoza vs. Milan Melindo: The only notable fight this Saturday will be a bout between Javier Mendoza (23-2-1, 19 KO) and Milan Melindo (32-1, 12 KO).  The two prizefighters are scheduled to go 12 rounds for Mendoza's IBF junior flyweight title on beIN Sports Espanol.  Mendoza is a southpaw who has good power, especially in his left hand.  Mendoza's jab is a decent punch but his best punch comes in the form of his straight left hand.  The heavy handed Mendoza also has a right hook in his toolbox although it isn't a tremendous punch.  One thing Mendoza does do very well is land uppercuts on the inside, something Melindo will have to watch out for in the pocket.  The knock against Mendoza has been that he has a title but has never faced any elite fighters, that is true, and a closer look at his resume reveals that he has been stopped in the 2nd round by a 4-7 fighter, not a great sign for future success against top fighters.  Melindo on the other hand has been in the ring with one of the best little men in the sport, Juan Francisco Estrada.  While Melindo did lose that fight he went the distance and had to learn a few lessons along the way.  Melindo is an orthodox fighter with a very good jab and a solid left hook.  Melindo is also skilled with the right hand and he is very accurate from the outside throwing his straight right hand or from the inside throwing it over the top.  This should be a good fight where the power of Mendoza goes up against the skills of Melindo.  Mendoza might be the man bringing the title belt into the ring but it will be Melindo who leaves with it by the way of split decision.
