Fox Sports 1 Quick Pick

Julian Ramirez vs. Raul Hidalgo: Last week it was ESPN providing fans with some Thursday night boxing action, and this week it will be Fox Sports 1.  Thursday night will be another edition of Golden Boy's L.A. Fight Club and the main event of that card will be a bout between Julian Ramirez (13-0, 8 KO) and Raul Hidalgo (23-12, 17 KO).  The two fighters are scheduled to go 10 rounds in the featherweight division, but things could end well before that, considering Hidalgo has been knocked out six times in his young career.  Ramirez is a young southpaw who uses a lot of head movement in the ring.  He uses a nice up and down jab along with a long straight left hand to control the distance during a fight, although his hands aren't very fast.  While Ramirez does have a pretty solid left hand, it often comes in wide, as does his right hook.  Ramirez is better on the outside but he does go to the body well on the inside.  This will be the first 10 round bout of Ramirez's career so it will be interesting to see how he handles things if the fight goes deep.  Recently Hidalgo has been fed to other young southpaw prospects like Joseph Diaz Jr., and Jessie Magdaleno.  Hidalgo is an orthodox fighter who likes to throw the classic one-two combination.  The best punch Hidalgo has however may be his heavy right hand, when he is able to land it.  At this point in the career of Ramirez his team would not put him in the ring with someone who represents a real threat to his undefeated record.  Ramirez may not get the knockout but he will get the unanimous decision win.
