ShoBox: The New Generation Quick Pick

Antoine Douglas vs. Thomas LaManna: Over the years ShoBox: The New Generation has produced many top fighters.  Two young prospects will be trying to impress this Friday night on Showtime so they may one day be one of those top fighters.  They are Antoine Douglas (16-0-1, 10 KO) and Thomas LaManna (16-0, 7 KO) who are scheduled to go 10 rounds in the middleweight division.  Douglas is an orthodox fighter with a nice jab he likes to stick to the belly.  He tends to be very active in the ring and is constantly moving his head which makes him difficult to do much damage against.  Douglas usually keeps his left hand hanging low and while he does throw a nice short left hook because he keeps his hand so low he is open for counter rights.  On the inside Douglas also lands some nice uppercuts but he head hunts a bit too much from that distance.  Across the ring is LaManna who like Douglas is under 25 years old and fights out of the orthodox stance.  Neither Douglas or LaManna have fought a particularly high level of opposition but LaManna's resume is the weaker of the two.  LaManna doesn't have much of a jab but he does have a solid straight right hand.  As for his left hook LaManna tends to leap in with it which could get him in trouble going forward.  The lack of quality opponents for LaManna will hurt him in this fight.  Douglas may be a far way off from being a contender but he shouldn't have too much difficulty with LaManna and will win the fight by the way of unanimous decision.
