Weekend Wrap-Up

  • Last years Boxcino tournaments featuring lightweights and middleweights was a big success with the fans.  This year's tournament got of to a hot start in the junior middleweight division and it looks like fans will have a lot to look forward to.
  • Stanyslav Skorokhod may be the favorite in the junior middleweight Boxcino tournament.  He showed a very heavy right hand against Michael Moore and a touch of swag doing some showboating in the ring.  Skorokhod was able to get the 4th round stoppage and should be making a lot of noise in the next round.
  • If Stanyslav Skorokhod isn't your favorite to win the Boxcino junior middleweight tournament than Brandon Adams probably is.  He was last year's runner-up in the middleweight tournament and he started off this year with an impressive 5th round stoppage.  Adams caught Alex Perez with a monster right hand and the fight was over.  Certainly fans are hoping for a fight between Adams and Skorokhod in the finals.
  •  It wasn't an easy win for Derric Rossy but he got the job done.  Rossy was badly hurt on a few occasions but the heavyweight was able to weather the storm to earn a unanimous decision victory.  Rossy won't ever be a true title contender in part because of his lack of power but he is a strong gatekeeper for young contenders and top prospects.
  • The most exciting fight of the week was also the only title fight.  David Sanchez and Juan Alberto Rosas went toe to toe and traded some heavy leather over the course of 10 rounds.  In that 10th round Sanchez ended the fight with a flurry.  He trapped Rosas in the corner and never stopped throwing punches which forced the referee to stop the fight giving Sanchez the stoppage win.
