BREAKING NEWS

It is the fight that the sports world has been pining for since 2009 and today it was finalized.  Floyd Mayweather (47-0, 26 KO) and Manny Pacquiao (57-5-2, 38 KO) ranked by Big Time Boxing as the number one and three pound for pound fighters respectively will finally step into the ring against each other on May 2nd.  The fight will be held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and will be a joint pay-per-view with Showtime who works with Mayweather and HBO who works with Pacquiao.  Also the fighters agreed to a 60-40 split of the money with Mayweather getting the lions share.  As for the fans, the fight will cost $89.95 and will probably cost $99.95 for HD.  This fight looms as the largest money fight in the history of the sport and surprisingly there is no rematch clause in the contract so unless there is a draw don't expect to see these two fight more than once.  Both fighters deserve some praise for finally getting this fight done.  In 2009 negotiations broke down after Pacquiao refused the drug testing that Mayweather requested, and all the negotiations or rumors of them after that never seemed to get very far.  Now fans won't have to wait and wonder if the fight will ever take place and the debate about which fighter is better will finally be settled.
