Friday Night Fights Quick Pick

Karl Dargan vs. Tony Luis: This Friday on ESPN2 the always entertaining Friday Night Fights will be back in action.  The main event of that card should be a good scrap between the unbeaten prospect Karl Dargan (17-0, 9 KO) and Tony Luis (18-2, 7 KO).  The two prizefighters are scheduled to go 10 rounds in the lightweight division and a win for either one would be the best of their career.  Dargan is an orthodox fighter who moves well in the ring and has quick hands.  His jab is a good weapon as is his left hook which he likes to bang to the body.  Dargan's right hand isn't a polished as his left but it is heavy and he throws a deadly uppercut with it.  Defensively Dargan is solid but he was dropped in his last fight, although he shouldn't have to worry too much about the power of Luis.  Luis is also an orthodox fighter and has faced the best competition of the two when he faced off against the hard hitting Ivan Redkach.  Luis is an aggressive fighter with very fast hands but he doesn't always fight intelligently.  Luis isn't heavy handed by often stands in the pocket and trades punches with his opponents.  Luis has a looping left hook but his overhand right is short and sweet.  However Luis will often charge forward and doesn't do so behind a jab which leaves him vulnerable to punishment.  This should be a close fight but it will be Dargan who takes less punishment and gets the better of the exchanges on his way to a unanimous decision victory.
